Description
This book arose out of teaching graduate and undergraduate classes in wildlife diseases. The literature on health problems in free-ranging animals is expanding rapidly. The theorical and quantitative aspects of wildlife disease are receiving more attention than in the past, and that role of disease as a factor in population biology is being analyzed. The first edition of this book was an overview of the study of disease in wild animals and of methods that might be used to manage health problem. The inquiries about a second edition suggest that it has been useful. Gary Wobeser’s successful ebook Disease in Wild Animals: Investigation and Management, has been completely updated and enlarged in a new second edition. An in-depth overview of the available techniques for the investigation and management of disease in free-ranging animals is provided. The subjects are illustrated with examples drawn from around the world, with emphasis on the special requirements involved in working with wild animals. The book draws on the author’s training as a wildlife biologist. 391 p.
