Birds have a remarkable ability to mask signs of disease – they have to in order to survive in the wild. Any bird that is ‘one degree under’ will be easy prey to predators, and will be bullied by others of its own kind. When you have to deal with a medical emergency with your bird, the ‘first aid’ described by the author is of great importance before heading to your veterinarian who will manage the emergency case and if necessary redirect your bird to hospital specialized in avian medicine.
