Laser therapy has become increasingly popular in small animal practice and has many benefits to the patient – including reduced inflammation, faster tissue healing and less pain, and can be used in a wide variety of conditions including wounds, sprains and fractures. Aimed at the first opinion vet, Veterinary Laser Therapy in Small Animal Practice covers the most important aspects of laser use in the practice environment. But it does so in a slightly different approach, taking two (often mis-aligned) perspectives – fundamental science and clinical applications – and combining them for a robust, useful guide to the practice of laser therapy. It includes: how lasers work on tissue, how to use them in different scenarios, how to maximise results, how to use them on different conditions including soft tissue, musculoskeletal and neurological, how to integrate lasers with other therapies, when not to use lasers or use with caution, how to choose the equipment and implement it in the practice environment and promote the treatment to animals. 249 p.

Very useful and very complete for veterinarians and specialist veterinarians like canine rehabilitation practioner. This is a book that I refer to frequently and it is full of interesting details. Really good references and colored pictures. It is aimed at veterinary health professionals. Would recommend for any vet interested in this field. Congratulations to the authors.

This is a MUST TO HAVE book in your book-shelf if you are actually working with a class IV laser, if you are thinking to start working with this powerful machine or if you are just interested in understanding better what there is behind the technology and the useful applications in a clinical environment in order to refer your customers for laser therapy 🙂 hand up for the great job a physician (Dr. Stephens) and a clinician (Doctor Suarez Redondo) have gone through, the physic part has been very well explained in a clear, friendly and talkative way easy to understand and to communicate to clients (I have read many of the previous books about laser therapy and so many articles for my Master in Animal Physiotherapy and nothing is more clear and easy to understand) and the clinician side gives you so many bits and tips and useful ideas on how to use the laser in the everyday clinic, how to implement the use of it and it gives you confidence in using the machine even more. I loved the awesome pictures in the book (again useful to show to your clients), the great caseload offered form Dr Suarez (the first book to pass you references about dosage) and the great bibliography at the end of the book, always useful and really up to date. Great buy, love it and happy to recommend the book to all the veterinary community.

I haven’t had this much fun with lasers since the last Pink Floyd cover concert. In short, AMAZING. This has changed my life in how I have conceptualized the opportunity to use lasers on dogs. I have thought about this for some time, but now I truly understand the benefits of doing so after reading this book. Please read this book so you can understand how great the use of lasers can be of use in pets of all shapes and sides. Of note, there are no spelling mistakes in this review.
